YOUR PENTICTON ORTHODONTIST
DR. JONATHAN PAXON
Happy to be back in the sunny Okanagan! I grew up in Penticton, and after eighteen years away working and studying, I returned home. My father was a dentist in Penticton for 30 years, and I, too, found my way into the dental profession.
Orthodontics is a lot of work but also a lot of fun. I enjoy the challenge of designing unique, individual treatment plans to create amazing smiles, but the relationships formed with patients and families are equally important.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Immediately after completing the dental program, I continued to specialize in orthodontics. In 2016, I graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Master of Science in craniofacial science and a diploma in orthodontics.
I completed the national specialty board examination the same year and have been practicing as a certified orthodontics specialist since then.
MEMBERSHIPS & AFFILIATIONS
I am a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and maintain membership in the Canadian Association of Orthodontists and the American Association of Orthodontists. I actively continue my education by attending numerous seminars, meetings, and study clubs.
OUTSIDE THE OFFICE
My wife, Kristine, and I stay busy with our four active sons. Andrew, Mitchell, Patrick, and Charlie make sure there's never a dull moment. We spend our time enjoying the beaches, mountain biking, hiking, and skiing that the Okanagan area has to offer.
The Orthodontist Difference
Understanding the distinction between orthodontists and dentists is key when considering teeth straightening. While both are experts in oral health, orthodontists like Dr. Paxon receive additional specialized training to correct misalignments of the teeth and jaw. This expertise is crucial for complex orthodontic cases, ensuring treatments are not only effective but also tailored to the unique facial structure of each patient.
The Transformative Power of Orthodontic Treatment
- Healthier Teeth and Gums: Straight teeth are easier to clean, leading to better oral hygiene and a lower risk of periodontal disease.
- Improved Function: Aligned teeth and jaws facilitate proper chewing and speaking, contributing to overall digestive health and well-being.
Mental and Personal Benefits:
- Elevated Confidence: A balanced, beautiful smile can significantly boost self-esteem, impacting every personal interaction.
- Reduced Anxiety: Addressing orthodontic issues can alleviate the subconscious stress associated with misaligned teeth.
Social and Professional Benefits:
- Stronger First Impressions: A confident smile can be a game-changer in social situations and professional encounters.
- Career Opportunities: A great smile can convey confidence and professionalism, often influencing career progression.
